The Foundation Game Changer | Estée Lauder Double Wear Stay-In-Place Foundation

Having oily skin is such a pain. It requires constant touch ups, lots of powder and the constant fear that your face looks like an actual slip n slide. I'm trying to weigh up the positives like how we're meant to get fewer wrinkles due to the natural oils, so fingers crossed that I'll be the youngest looking granny ever. As such, I've been on the hunt for a good foundation but my skin can also react to different foundations with large lumpy bumpy under the skin spots and sensitivity so it's basically a mission. After looking up loads of reviews I decided to go get matched up and try out a sample to see how my skin would react - long story short, my skin reacted fine with no more blemishes cropping up  than usual - I think it's usually foundations with high quantities of SPF in the formula.

After wearing the sample to death I have finally purchased a full bottle as this foundation is life. (Oh there's something so satisfying about a new bottle of foundation isn't there, it's so crisp and new). But, So, what's the difference between this and other foundations that makes it so amazing? Let me break it down for you.

This stuff stays put. I've never been so impressed with a foundation before, it just clings on there for dear life. You won't be saying bye Felicia, you'll be saying hell-Oh my gawd you are lookin' flawless today yes, thank you for staying on my face. Usually at work (I work part time in retail by the way), a few hours after running around tidying and finding things for customers leads to the demolition of my face makeup - (I normally print off a bit of receipt from the till and I will literally blot my face because my makeup just melts off - why am I so embarrassing). With this foundation, I went to the toilet mid shift and I was like oh I look a tad shiney I'll just blot with some toilet roll quickly.. BARELY ANYTHING WAS ON THE PAPER. Literally I was in shock. I was looking at it in disbelief, I dabbed again thinking there had to be more.. there wasn't. The blotting didn't even make much difference to the appearance of my skin/foundation and there was such a minimal amount of product on the paper in total I actually can't get over it.

The other thing about this foundation, normally with my other foundations they kind of break apart on the skin, slightly melt off and you can see bits of your skin coming through and it's like some kind of hybrid halloween/everyday makeup. But Double Wear over here doesn't do that so I'm super impressed. Besides from your skin looking a bit dewy and actually radiant, which for my skin type is amazing and mostly unachievable, this foundation stays put and looks amazing throughout the day. I will say that I still set everything with a setting powder however, I've heard great things from my friend with dry skin who uses this, she doesn't set it and it still stays on like a dream.

Honestly, I'm so impressed with this foundation (hence the blog post on it) and I would highly recommend it to literally anyone/any skin type. I just wish I'd found this sooner. It retails for £31 but a little goes a long way and I'm 100% going to be repurchasing when this runs out.

Currently Loving | The Book Edition

I bet you can't believe it, a post that isn't makeup! Just thought I'd mix things up you know, do something a bit different. But you know what, fantasy books are some of the most beautiful books you can ever read and no dissing please, it's not childlike to enjoy a book that allows your imagination to run wild. Whilst my mother was prompting me to read more 'sophisticated' novels I just can't help that this genre just speaks to me on a spiritual level. It kind of reminds me of my recurring love for nude lipsticks - I always fall for your type. The best part about reading a book, the battery life is limitless and requires no charging, amazing!
So anyway, here are my current favs that I've recently read or in the process of reading so I'm sharing for my fellow fantasy book lovers who might be after a new read or what not.

I'm currently in the middle of Rapture by Lauren Kate, the fourth and final book of the book series Fallen (which has recently come out as a film if you fancied a watch) and for those who don't know, it's about fallen angels and a love story surrounding reincarnations and a curse oooh, very exciting stuff. Honestly though I've really loved this series and would recommend to anyone who loves a bit of fantasy/romance.

Brisngr by Christopher Paolini, book three of the Heritage series or Inheritance Cycle - i'm not sure what the difference is but - I think these books are phenomenal. The amount of detail within this book series is incredible. I'm sure some of you might have heard of Eragon (the first book of the series) which came out as a film and no sequels followed - much to my disappointment. Then one day I remembered that my brother bought the books and so I sought them out and started reading and was just blown away. Can't wait to get my hands on the final book but I'm not gonna lie, I'm gonna be sad once I've read it. There's just something so sad about finishing a series of books, it's a little like finishing a TV series as it leaves a void in your heart.

Switched by Amanda Hocking. One of my old favs that I read years and years ago. Little did I know that there are not 1 but 2 more books to follow it. So obviously, my memory needs a refresh and then the sequels shall be purchased and read. The story is set around a girl who, when she was 6 years old, her mother tried to murder her as she thought she was a monster or something. Cray cray, but very interesting right? Makes you wanna read it eh eh.

And you know, those marks on the spine where you've opened the book, that's the sign of a good book huns. So there you have it, I hope some of these suggestions are helpful to any fantasy loving bookworms out there. If you do pick any of these up or have some fabulous books you'd recommend, do not hesitate to let me know as I LOVE a good book.

The most photogenic highlighter ever | Diorskin Nude Air Luminizer in shade 002

If you follow me on Instagram (@amelia.lottie) then you'll have seen this beaut all over my grid. I think the reason I wanted to write about this product is because even though the packaging and embossing is so beautiful, the product itself is also a dream. This post is also a bit of a rest in peace moment because I've now used this so much you can barely see the 'NUDE' embossing and I am sad (yes, you can send me your condolences in this very difficult time).

The packaging is high end to the max, there's so much of it. You know I love being extra and the box this beauty comes in is massive. It also comes with a little kabuki brush with the same silver packaging and embossing on the handle. There is also, wait for it, a pouch to put the compact in - so extra. It's probably good if you're travelling but I like to keep pretty packaged products in my see-through Muji draws to get my money's worth - haha.

The product itself is just so beautiful, aside from the prettiest embossing in existence, the compact itself is silver and elegant. As for the product, this highlighter is almost lightweight? It's very airy and doesn't feel heavy on the skin so you can tell it's high quality. The colour is a gorgeous light champagne pink shade that I can't get enough of and almost looks natural on the skin. Obviously it's a highlighter so it's never going to look that natural but it creates a pretty dewy glow that isn't heavy and I'm so obsessed with it.

I've never been so impressed by a highlighter - I definitely think it's worth the money. So, sorry not sorry for all the photos - I never knew a highlighter could be so photogenic but damn this one knows how to work the camera. Please don't be deterred by the price as in this case price equals quality. You can buy other beautiful shades but this one is 002 and it's love.

Currently Loving | March Favourites

March, the month of assignment stress. Oh March. In other words, I'm well and truly happy that March is out the way. But that doesn't mean that I didn't make some new purchases which have swiftly made their way into my makeup routine - as well as some other pieces.

I've been loving highlighters to death this month. I think with my two recent additions of the ABH Nicole Guerriero Glow Kit and the Dior Luminizer in shade 002 have just ignited my inner glazed donut and I haven't stopped wearing them. The Dior highlighter has the most beautiful embossing - which is sadly not so beautiful anymore - but it's such a beautiful light champagne pink shade I can't stop wearing it.  The new Glow Kit is just perfection and my last post featured a review on it if you want to find out my thoughts.

My other love went out to the Hourglass Ambient Strobe Blush palette which contains the most incredible shades which are perfect for spring (and like every other season too). My top lip combination this month comes in the form of, surprise surprise the Charlotte Tilbury lipsticks in Liv It Up and Kim KW but, with the most gorgeous lip topper of them all. The Jouer Cosmetics Lip Topper in Skinny Dip. Honestly I want to make a shrine dedicated to Skinny Dip and worship it because it's just magical. The smell is magnificent, almost sweet and it kind of dries down into the lips leaving a shimmer of majesticness - it just slays the lip game.

I would like to thank the brow gods at Benefit for creating Gimme Brow. My go-to brow product to give my brows some extra texture and volume. I know, it sounds strange because it's like I'm talking about my head hair if you will. But you don't want flat brows and this just helps sort out that problem for a more natural brow look. I don't want them too natural looking because they take me a good 20 mins, I need people to appreciate my hard work and brow enthusiasm.

Last but not least, my favy foundation, the Too Faced Born This Way foundation. I rave about this on the blog far too much but, when a foundation is this good, you can't not rave about it. I could rave about this product for days. In fact Too Faced should created a Born This Way foundation festival where I can publicly express my love for this foundation via interpretive dance moves. I mean hopefully this won't happen because my dancing is awful but you get my point right? It's amazing. So natural looking and not cakey. I wanted to photograph the bottle but I've just finished my THIRD bottle and it's looking pretty dead.

So that about sums up my favourites for March. I'm so excited for April for everything spring related including eating my body weight in chocolate at Easter and hopefully the knowledge/brain of Einstein as I approach my exams in May.
